Breathwork Basics
Your breath is the gateway to transformation. Through conscious connected breathing, you can shift energy, clear blockages, and deepen your connection to yourself.
When you open to the rhythm of your breath, you open to the infinite potential of life itself.
The first step is to simply witness your breath.
Where is your awareness most of the time – still and focussed or pulled in many directions and lost in distractions? Perhaps a bit of both.
Cultivating the presence of a loving witness allows you to observe yourself with compassion. In breathwork, this loving awareness becomes the key to profound healing and transformation.
Your nervous system holds the key to your life force energy. When overwhelmed by stress, it can become stuck in a constant fight-or-flight state or shut down into depression and overwhelm.
Understanding how your nervous system shapes your experience is essential for healing, balance, and lasting transformation.
Your body is always fully present to the moment, holding its own deep intelligence – your instincts and intuition. Yet, in a culture that prioritises the mind, it’s easy to lose touch with this embodied wisdom.
Breathwork reawakens your connection to the body, helping you listen, trust, and fully inhabit yourself once more.
Your mind is both your most powerful tool and greatest obstacle – it shapes your reality and future, yet can also hold you in limiting beliefs from the past.
Breathwork combined with self-enquiry tools helps bring clarity and focus so you can break free from old patterns and step into the life you love.
Understanding where fear, anger, and grief arise in your life – and learning to process them with self-compassion – is a powerful skill few fully develop.
When emotions go unprocessed, they become stored in the body, creating energetic blockages. Breathwork helps release these blockages, providing a safe space for expression, healing, and the deepening of emotional intelligence.

FAQs
Breathwork is for everyone, but it’s particularly beneficial for those seeking support in working through something specific in their lives. It can be especially powerful for those who have completed a course of talking therapy and feel they’ve reached a plateau or are ready to explore a deeper layer of healing.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, breathwork opens up the emotional body in a unique way, accessing parts of ourselves that words alone may not reach. It helps deepen self-understanding and fosters a connection to the essence that lies beneath life’s distractions.
For those on a more spiritual path of self-inquiry, breathwork can offer profound inner experiences, unlocking new dimensions of awareness and insight. It also serves as a gentle yet effective way to clear the body’s psychospiritual system, working through old blockages and stored traumas in a gentle and accessible way.
Breathwork is a direct and powerful way to shift your inner state, bringing clarity, release, and a deeper sense of connection to yourself. It engages the body’s innate intelligence, creating a bridge between the conscious and unconscious - allowing emotions, memories, and patterns to surface and move, often leading to profound insight and healing.
Many of us carry unprocessed experiences, stored not just in our minds but in our bodies. Over time, these layers can manifest as tension, anxiety, or a sense of being stuck. Breathwork works beneath the surface, clearing what words alone cannot. It regulates the nervous system, softens resistance, and creates space for transformation - physically, emotionally, and energetically.
Beyond healing, breathwork is a powerful tool for self-discovery. It can bring deep insight, expanded awareness, and a reconnection to something greater - whether that’s your true self, your intuition, or a sense of belonging to a deeper current of life beyond the everyday.
At its core, breathwork is a homecoming. A way back to yourself. A way to clear, realign, and remember who you truly are beneath the layers of conditioning and the noise of modern life.
There are many styles of conscious connected breathwork, from Soma Breath to Shamanic Breathwork, BBTRS to DMT breathwork. While they may have different names and slight variations in approach, at their core, they share the same foundation—breathing in a connected rhythm while maintaining awareness of the body. This simple yet profound practice serves as a gateway to healing, transformation, and self-exploration.
The origins of modern breathwork stem from two key modalities developed in the 1970s: Rebirthing Breathwork and Holotropic Breathwork. Rebirthing is a gentler practice, traditionally done in a one-on-one setting, allowing for deep emotional release in a safe and supportive space. Holotropic Breathwork, on the other hand, is a more dynamic, group-based practice that uses evocative music to guide participants into deep, altered states of consciousness.
Finn has trained in Rebirthing Breathwork as well as Tetra Breath, a more recent modality developed from Thailand. Tetra Breath takes inspiration from the Holotropic style while incorporating a strong focus on heart-opening and energetic flow.
Beyond conscious connected breathwork, there are many other breathwork modalities, including functional breathing practices, the Wim Hof Method, and the vast array of yogic pranayama techniques, each with their own unique benefits and applications.
Absolutely! Breathwork is accessible to everyone, whether you’re completely new or have prior experience. Group sessions provide a safe and supportive space to explore the practice, with guided facilitation to help you ease into the experience.
Each session begins with an introduction to the technique, so you’ll feel confident and prepared before you start. The beauty of breathwork is that it meets you exactly where you are—there’s no right or wrong way to experience it. Some people feel immediate shifts, while others may need a few sessions to fully open up to the process.
If you’re new and feeling unsure, simply come with an open mind and a willingness to explore. The breath will take care of the rest.
A one-on-one breathwork session is a deeply personal and tailored experience, designed to meet you exactly where you are. We begin with a conversation about what’s present for you—whether it’s emotional processing, stress relief, or a desire for deeper self-connection. From there, we’ll set an intention for the session and move into the breathwork practice itself.
You’ll be guided through a specific breathing pattern, allowing space for whatever needs to arise—whether that’s physical sensations, emotions, or moments of deep clarity. Unlike group sessions, a private session offers a more focused container, with personalized support to help you navigate your experience in a way that feels safe and grounded.
Sessions close with time for integration—whether through gentle reflection, grounding techniques, or simply sitting in the stillness that follows. Breathwork can be a profound journey, and having the space to process what comes up is an essential part of the experience.
Every session is unique, but the intention is always the same: to create a space where you can meet yourself fully, with breath as the guide.
In the Rebirthing lineage, it’s traditional to complete a course of 10 one-on-one sessions. This gives you time to work at a natural pace, allowing whatever needs to shift to rise gently to the surface. Over the course of these sessions, you’ll have space to sit with what arises, process it fully, and move toward a place of deeper clarity and integration.
These 10 sessions also give you a strong foundation in the technique, so you can confidently continue your own breathwork practice at home.
Beyond one-on-one work, group sessions are a great way to stay connected to the practice, offering a supportive space to keep exploring, deepening, and attuning to where your journey is leading you next.
